 Generosity Moment - Luke 14:11 “For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: that’s called humility. The Lord is God and we are not. With that in mind, how could we not seek to follow His Word in all aspects of life? He knows what He is talking about and we don’t. If you believe that, then striking out on a path of faithfulness in the realm of stewardship is a lot easier: it just makes sense. Just how did that sense impact what you gave in a weekly church offering today?

TODAY - All are invited to the installation of St. Paul’s former leader Rev. Dan Eddy who, also with our former member wife Berta, will occur today, Sunday, August 28th.  Pastor Eddy will be installed at Messiah Lutheran Church in Beloit (1531 Townline Ave.) with the service beginning at 2pm. Pastor Thies is preaching the installation sermon.  Come and join in and welcome the Eddys back to our area for our continued “partnership in the Gospel.” (Philippians 1:5)

TODAY - It’s time to think “Confirmation” for those beginning 7th & 8th grade again this year.  Junior Confirmation classes are held Sunday evenings at 6:30pm at the Northwest site.  Our first meeting for orientation and planning is this evening at 6:30pm.  Each class gives parents or another adult an opportunity to partner together study of God’s word and bonds the child together in a relationship of faith.  As a result, we need at least one adult per child to please attend.

LADIES GUILD 1ST MEETING for 2016-2017 is on Wednesday, September 7th at NOON at the Northwest Site.  We invite the Ladies of St. Paul to be our guest at this Potluck to hear the calendar we have planned, and consider joining with our Ladies Guild, and be a part of the activities.  Ladies Guild members are asked to bring a dish to pass, MITES saved since June, and $20 for yearly membership dues.  Table Service, Dessert, and Beverage is provided.

Chancel Choir begins a new year of practice and singing for Sunday worship on Thursday, September 8th, at 6:30pm. All practices will be at the Northwest site from 6:00pm – 7:00pm. Singing for worship will alternate between the three services and two sites. If you would like more information and a schedule of dates, please call Dawn Stock at 815-871-5808.

Looking for volunteers to help with the exterior painting at the Northwest Site on September 6-10 during the day or evening. We will be working on the fellowship hall and narthex. Please contact Mark Beck for further details at 815-222-9938.

Knitting ETC and Community Activity Day Potluck will be held at the NW Site on Thursday, September 8th, 2016 at 11:00. Please come and join us in fun, food and fellowship. Bring a dish to share, everything else will be provided. We have a good time and keep in touch with each other.

Northwest Site carpet cleaning is scheduled for Monday, September 12. If anyone can stay after worship on the 11th to move stuff out of the fellowship hall, it would be greatly appreciated.
