Generosity Moment - Luke 10:25  "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" There is nothing right about this question. What shall I do to inherit? What can you do to inherit the throne of England? You can’t do anything to gain those things: an inheritance comes by family ties, not deeds. Our deeds follow and result from our family ties: the Father calls us His own children. So we give for the needs of our family needs from the inheritance of God’s grace and mercy we have entrusted to us.  We do so without fear in that we know our inheritance is an eternal life already through faith in Jesus’ merit.

Neighborfest 2016 is TODAY from 3:00pm – 5:30pm at the Central Site. We need lots of help to get it all together. Scott Harkins is our coordinator along with Carol Ulrich of our Evangelism Board and Lugene Batton of our Social Ministry Board. But they can’t do it all. We need people on the day of to set up, greet people, and serve food in addition to clean up and take down. We are happy to have all our BarBQue pledged!  There will be music by Carl Cole and other children and adult activities. Please call Scott Harkins (815-566-9581) or Carol Ulrich (815-277-7838) if you can assist with any of this.

Happiness over a new Principal for St. Paul Lutheran School – As contemplated at our Congregational Meeting on June 12th in which we extended a Call to Dr. Larry Wooster to be our school Principal, we will have to be patient but he has indicated his willingness to accept our Call, if he can remain at his present school in Nebraska for the upcoming school term.  He and his wife, Lynette, would join us then early next summer. Our school is prepared administratively to make the wait. Our leadership is in the process of completing some details, assuming our willingness to accept this arrangement. If you have any thoughts, please share them with a Board of Ed member, a Call Committee member or Pastor Thies.  Great thanks are due to our Call Committee which dedicated many hours and prayers to shepherd us to a wonderful candidate.  The Committee members are/were Dorothy Beck, Michael Woolery, Jon Schuknecht, Vaughn DeGuzman, Christy Eldridge, Mark Beck, LeeAnn Jacobsen, Dean Ulrich and Pastor Thies. If you would like to write welcomes to the Woosters, their address is 1330 W. 8th St., Ogallala, NE 69153.

Monday Morning Bible Class will meet at the Stockholm Inn tomorrow morning at 10:00am. Please join us for good food and fellowship.

VBS 2016 begins Tomorrow at Northwest site! - Is your kid registered? Have you planned to help? It's time for an OCEAN COMMOTION. VBS is ALL THIS WEEK, July 11th thru Friday, the 15th, 5:30pm. Please let us know if your kid can come. We have made lots of progress in getting helpers for various jobs.  We start with a meal each night at 5:30pm.  The menu is: Mon. pizza; Tues. hotdogs; Wed. BBQ; Thurs. Burgers; Fri. bring your own picnic. We have decided NOT to have the adult session we had mentioned but come enjoy the fun and pitch in.

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS) is holding its Regular Convention this summer from July 9th to 14th in Milwaukee.  Our member, Mr. Mike Woolery, is the “Circuit” (Rockford area) delegate and will attend with Pastor Ken Krause of Mount Olive Lutheran who is our pastoral delegate for the Circuit.  Thank you for your gifts towards the Thank Offering to support projects and programs of the Synod’s Offices of International and National Mission, Pastoral Education and the Joint Seminary Fund. Please pray that our Lord would guide our church body well through the decisions made in the Convention and safety for delegates traveling to and from Milwaukee.

This Thursday morning our Youth & Adults depart for their long anticipated trip to the LCMS National Youth Gathering in New Orleans. During the week our group will travel by plane with the youth from Mount Olive Lutheran in Rockford and will spend the week with more than 25,000 LCMS youth and adults from across the country.  They will attend sessions and worship in the Superdome, work sessions in the Convention Center, daily devotions with others in their hotel and servant events to improve the lives of others. They return next Thursday, the 21st.  Please pray for the Lord’s blessings, safety and enrichment for all involved.  And THANK YOU to all who donated so many financial gifts toward enabling our group to have this experience!

Piecemakers will NOT meet this week due to VBS. See you back the following week!

Knitting Etc. and Community Acitivity Potluck is at the Northwest Site on July 14th at 11:00am. Bring a dish to share, everything else will be provided.

Join us for our Congregational meeting as we consider our  Congregational Budget that must be approved by the end of July so that we can continue operating beyond July 31st! In order for us to have that opportunity, our Church Planning Council and Chairman has set Sunday, July 31st, at 6:30pm at NORTHWEST SITE as the time and place of our semi-annual Congregational Meeting. In addition to budgetary matters, material and opportunity will be made for Board Reports and discussion, update on legal concerns and Election of Officers and Board Members for the August 1st, 2016 through the July 31st, 2017 year term. If you miss this meeting, you will miss your opportunity to hear and have a say to decide in the impact that the LARGE AND SUBSTANTIAL decisions will have on our going forward together at St. Paul.

Would you like to make an extra gift to Roof St. Paul? – Notice that there are no drips on your head when you are in our building?  We’d like to keep it that way.  Recently, our “old school” building portion was re-roofed with state of the art roofing after it had been leaking for years thanks to a gift from member Roger Schmeling’s estate.  Now we need to do the soffits to they don’t deteriorate under it and we lack the full about by $11,000.  Also, at Northwest site, it is time for a re-roof of the sanctuary.  We lack $6,000 for that after receiving $6,000 already from insurance.  If you can make as special gift to “St. Paul Lutheran Church,” please mark it clearly in a special envelope of some kind and place it in the offering plate or provide it to the church office.  Prevent “drips” from overtaking us!

Little Lambs is now accepting applications for spring/summer enrollment. Please call Katie Lopez at 815-965-3335, ext. 218.

I would like to thank my wonderful family and friends at St. Paul for all your prayers and cards. You are truly a blessing. I got the all clear from the doctor last week. Your Friend in Christ, Bonnie Ciprys
