Generosity Moment - Luke 7:41 A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. . .” Our debt of sin and death has been paid by the suffering and death of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have been forgiven much, so we love the Lord much! How could we not therefore gladly and generously support the work of the Church in bringing this saving Gospel message to all nations, starting right at home in our own congregations with our weekly financial giving through our offering?

A Special Congregation Meeting will be held this morning, June 12th, at 11:45 AM, at the Central site, in the sanctuary.  The topics will be to send our approval for a special district convention, and the calling of Dr. Larry Wooster as our school principal.  Dr. Wooster has 34 years’ experience, has taught in inner-city Alberquerque, NM, Fort Dodge, IA, Lancaster, CA (teacher then principal), and the past few years in Ogallala NE (principal/teacher).  He received his teaching degree from Concordia, Seward, NE, his masters (music education) from University of NM, and his Doctorate (computer technology in education) from Nova Southeastern University.  He has experience in both inner-city and rural schools, with combined principal/teacher roles, with music and band teaching, and with involvement in the congregation itself with things like adult Bible class.  His wife, Lynette is a teacher, pharmacy technician, and an organist.  Please come join us for this brief meeting, as we continue to work towards St. Paul's future.

Pastor Thies remains on vacation through June 19th and returns to the office on June 20th.  If you have an emergency, please call Pastor Ciprys 815-962-6814 or the church office, 815-963-5435.

Monday Morning Bible Class will meet tomorrow, Monday, June 13th at 10:00am at Stockholm Inn. Join us for good food and fellowship!

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS) – holds its Regular Convention this summer from July 9th to 14th in Milwaukee.  Our member, Mr. Mike Woolery, is the “Circuit” (Rockford area) delegate and will attend with Pastor Ken Krause of Mount Olive Lutheran who is our pastoral delegate for the Circuit.  Part of the Convention which occurs every three years is a THANK OFFERING. It is collected in each congregation and brought by the delegate to the Convention.  This Convention’s offering will support projects and programs of the Synod’s Offices of International and National Mission, Pastoral Education and the Joint Seminary Fund. This week an insert brochure is provided with your worship folder to inform you in more detail.  Attached to it is an envelope that you may use for any gift the Lord may move you to contribute to help us be a part of the nationwide act of our church body.  You may return the gifts in the coming Sundays until Sunday, July 3rd in our offering plate or at our church office.

Last week roofing work began on the “old school” portion of the building at Central site.  It has been leaking and soaking up money in temporary repairs for years.  We are thankful for a gift from the estate of Mr. Roger Schmeling that has covered the in excess of $35,000 for the roof.  Let’s give thanks to the Lord for such generosity and that the Lord has provided a way for us to preserve our facility in such a way.

Join us for the 14th annual St. Paul Band Camp beginning June 20-24, 2016 from 9:00am – Noon each day. Band camp is open to students entering grades 5-9 and who have completed at least one year of instruction on their instrument. Camp will be held at the Northwest Site (4881 Kilburn Ave). Cost is 75.00 for 1st family member and 25.00 for second family member and no  charge for the 3rd family member. There will be an outdoor concert on Friday evening at 7:00pm If you are interested you can fill out a form located in the narthex at both sites.

Vacation Bible School 2016 – We would like to spice it up a little differently this year under the theme “Ocean Commotion: Diving into Noah’s Flood.”  We will be using this curriculum published by Answers in Genesis that hosts the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky (near Cincinnati). Our DCE trained Miss Marybeth Madsen (who also serves as our school Kindergarten teacher) & Pastor Thies have agreed to serve as coordinators together.  But we need a lot of adult and youth volunteers to make it all happen.  We plan to have it at Northwest site this year, July 11-15, from 5:30pm until 8pm.  We now have sign up sheets for where you could help out available at the entrance ways at each site.  Be thinking how you can help and please sign up to let us know, mark your calendars and register any kids you can snag for our “Ocean Commotion!”
