Prayer for the Day is a daily devotional ministry. To hear a devotion recorded by Pastor Thies, please call the special Prayer for the Day phone number (963-7641) and then dial 3 when the call is answered.

Generosity Moment - Luke 10:20  “But rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” No one can snatch us out of the nail-marked hands of Jesus: He has redeemed us and claimed us as His own. As those whose names are written in heaven, we seek to live heavenly lives here on earth. Being given heaven instead of hell because of Jesus’ death and resurrection is the foundation of all our good works, including our faithful weekly offering giving.

NEXT SUNDAY, July 10th, is Neighborfest 2016 from 3:00pm – 5:30pm at the Central Site. We need lots of help to get it all together. Scott Harkins is our coordinator along with Carol Ulrich of our Evangelism Board and Lugene Batton of our Social Ministry Board. But they can’t do it all. We need people on the day of to set up, greet people, and serve food in addition to clean up and take down. We also need six or more batches of Bar B Que. There will be music by Carl Cole and other children and adult activities. Please call Scott Harkins (815-566-9581) or Carol Ulrich (815-277-7838) if you can assist with any of this.

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS) – holds its Regular Convention this summer from July 9th to 14th in Milwaukee.  Our member, Mr. Mike Woolery, is the “Circuit” (Rockford area) delegate and will attend with Pastor Ken Krause of Mount Olive Lutheran who is our pastoral delegate for the Circuit.  Part of the Convention which occurs every three years is a THANK OFFERING. It is collected in each congregation and brought by the delegate to the Convention.  This Convention’s offering will support projects and programs of the Synod’s Offices of International and National Mission, Pastoral Education and the Joint Seminary Fund. If you do not use the previously provided envelope, please make sure your gift is clearly marked for “Synod Offering.” You may return the gifts in the coming Sundays until next Sunday, July 3rd in our offering plate or at our church office.

VBS 2016 - Is your kid registered? Have you planned to help? It's time for us to get serious and ready for a great week of VBS with an OCEAN COMMOTION. VBS is Monday, July 11th thru Friday, the 15th, 5:30pm to 8pm each night at Northwest site. Please let us know if your kid can come. We have made lots of progress in getting helpers for various jobs.  Our biggest thing now is that we could use some help in the kitchen in serving the evening meal and a few other little things.  We supply the food.  The menu is: Mon. pizza; Tues. hotdogs; Wed. BBQ; Thurs. Burgers; Fri. bring your own picnic.

We now have REGISTRATION FORMS for kids & sign up sheets for where you could help out available at the entrance ways at each site.  WHAT RIPPLE CAN YOU MAKE WITH SOME CONTRIBUTION TO OUR OCEAN COMMOTION OF VBS THIS YEAR? Post here or post or message to Marybeth Madsen or Pastor Thies as to what RIPPLE you can commit too (one or more days). Let's HAVE A FLOOD of volunteer spirit and a FLEET OF KIDS!

Knitting Etc. and Community Activity Potluck is at the Northwest Site on July 14th at 11:00am. Bring a dish to share, everything else will be provided.

Would you like to make an extra gift to Roof St. Paul? – Notice that there are no drips on your head when you are in our building?  We’d like to keep it that way.  Recently, our “old school” building portion was re-roofed with state of the art roofing after it had been leaking for years thanks to a gift from member Roger Schmeling’s estate.  Now we need to do the soffits to they don’t deteriorate under it and we lack the full about by $11,000.  Also, at Northwest site, it is time for a re-roof of the sanctuary.  We lack $6,000 for that after receiving $6,000 already from insurance.  If you can make as special gift to “St. Paul Lutheran Church,” please mark it clearly in a special envelope of some kind and place it in the offering plate or provide it to the church office.  Prevent “drips” from overtaking us!

Missing from Central Site! - Two black tower fans that usually go in the back of the sanctuary. If anyone knows of their whereabouts, please take them back to Sanctuary at Central site. Thanks!

Little Lambs is now accepting applications for spring/summer enrollment. Please call Katie Lopez at 815-965-3335, ext. 218.
