Generosity Moment - Galatians 1: 11 “For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man's gospel.” Our religion is not man made, but God-revealed. We need the Lord's instruction and wisdom. We just don't know enough on our own. It seems foolishness to the world that Christians drop their hard earned money into the collection plate every week. They just don't see a benefit to the preaching of the Word, the administration of the Sacraments, the sending of missionaries, or the educating of children in the faith. But from the Lord's instruction and Wisdom we know better. Giving teaches us generosity; the work of the Church is the salvation of mankind and we are blessed to be called to participate in it in this way.

SPYS Pork Chop Dinner TODAY - St. Paul Youth going to New Orleans this summer will be serving a Pork Chop Dinner in the fellowship hall at the Northwest site this afternoon from Noon-2:00pm. Your meal includes a pork chop sandwich, corn, chips, desert and a drink. Please join us!

Our Elders Meeting is today, June 5th at 4pm at the Northwest site.  This is a change due to a number of reasons.  See you there, elders.

Special Voters Meeting - Our Congregational Chairman, Jon Schuknecht, on behalf of the Church Council and the Principal Call Committee, has called for a Special Congregational Meeting for Sunday, June 12th, at 11:45am in the Central site sanctuary to consider the following two matters: 1) Whether to extend a Call to Mr. Larry Wooster of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School of Ogallala, Nebraska, to be Principal at our St. Paul School; and 2) Whether to consent to the request of the Northern Illinois District to hold a Special District Convention to adopt new Circuit Realignment to be in compliance with Synod Circuit membership parameters.  Please plan to attend.  The meeting in anticipated to be brief.

Pastor Thies will be on vacation from June 6-19th and returns to the office on June 20th.  If you have an emergency, please call Pastor Ciprys 815-962-6814 or the church office, 815-963-5435.

This week roofing work has begun on the “old school” portion of the building at Central site.  It has been leaking and soaking up money in temporary repairs for years.  We are thankful for a gift from the estate of Mr. Roger Schmeling that has covered the in excess of $35,000 for the roof.  Let’s give thanks to the Lord for such generosity and that the Lord has provided a way for us to preserve our facility in such a way.

LADIES GUILD THIS WEDNESDAY JUNE 8th, has their Luncheon at 11:30am at the Northwest Site.  Mark Weidner will prepare and serve this Celebration Lunch for us.  The menu is a Chicken Salad with additional sides and beverage for $6.00.  Please plan to pay at the Luncheon.  If you did not sign-up at the May meeting, call Noma Weidner (815-968-4831) or Vicky Semenchuk (815-877-3874) by June 1st to make your reservation.  You may bring MITES to this Luncheon, but also continue saving over the summer.

Cost is 75.00 for 1st family member and 25.00 for second family member and no  charge for the 3rd family member. There will be an outdoor concert on Friday evening at 7:00pm If you are interested you can fill out a form located in the narthex at both sites.

Vacation Bible School 2016 – We would like to spice it up a little differently this year under the theme “Ocean Commotion: Diving into Noah’s Flood.”  We will be using this curriculum published by Answers in Genesis that hosts the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky (near Cincinnati). Our DCE trained Miss Marybeth Madsen (who also serves as our school Kindergarten teacher) & Pastor Thies have agreed to serve as coordinators together.  But we need a lot of adult and youth volunteers to make it all happen.  We plan to have it at Northwest site this year, July 11-15, from 5:30pm until 8pm.  We now have sign up sheets for where you could help out available at the entrance ways at each site.  Be thinking how you can help and please sign up to let us know, mark your calendars and register any kids you can snag for our “Ocean Commotion!”
