New Twelve Month Theme -  Our new theme for our 2015-2016 year is:   “Jesus’ Light, Piercing Our Darkness.” Jesus brightens our world with His Light in the following way:  “This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:5-7)  Please notice the prayer at the bottom of the last page herein that we together can pray regularly that highlights this theme the way it all works in our lives as well.
Monday Morning Bible Class resumes next Monday, September 14th at 10:00am. Pastor Thies will continue to lead us through the last section of chapters of Isaiah that speak to God’s continuing promises of restoration for His people. Come and join us for fun, prayer, study of God’s Word and some wonderful morning snacks! Everyone is welcome!

SOMETHING DIFFERENT – is taking a few weeks off from it’s Wednesday get togethers. Please watch for what we’ll be doing when we resume.

Pastor Ciprys will be on vacation beginning today through September 20th.  Please contact the church office or Pastor Thies at 815-962-2145 for any pastoral needs.

St. Paul gets to host a piece of Rockford Lutheran’s 50th Anniversary events – Rockford Lutheran High School was founded by our congregation 50 years ago.  What great results have been borne in the lives of near countless individuals over the last half century.  To remember such things, the Association leadership is working with us for a special 8am service at Central site on Sunday, September 27th.  As part of this special observation in the service, four new graduates from our LCMS Concordia Universities will be commissioned as new rostered worker in the LCMS.  This is a great honor.  Consider your Sunday happenings to include taking this in.  It is a special honor for St. Paul to remember and be remembered this way.

Have you ever considered being a pastor or deaconess? If so, Rev. Bill Wrede from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis would like to meet with you at St. Paul Lutheran Church (Central Site) on Friday, September 18th anytime between 10:30am – 12:30pm. Rev. Wrede is interested in meeting with prospective students of all ages – elementary school through adults who are already employed in another vocation. Conferences are individual, informal and family/friends are welcome. Reservations are not necessary, but strongly encouraged. If you are interested in scheduling a specific conference time, please call Rev. Wrede at 314-505-7221 or email him at wredew@csl.edu to set up an appointment.

Church/School Picnic – Our Church Planning Council has decided to at least postpone our picnic to another date yet to be determined.  If you are interested in working on having a church picnic, please contact Jon Schuknecht at 815-298-6378 or Pastor Thies.

Dinner Auction 2015 – An American Girl doll, Julie, has been donated for the auction. Once again, we are asking for outfits for the doll. Last year we were able to make two packages which went over very well. You can buy or make an outfit, by sewing, knitting or crocheting. If you have any questions on sizes, please contact Sandy Kahler at 815-877-7936.

Toy Collection for Kids -  Again this year, we will be collecting new toys for Christmas gifts for those less fortunate. We need toys for boys and girls. We would like dolls in all skin tones as we serve a variety of nationalities. We can use blankets or quilts in doll sizes that will be given with a doll. If you would rather have us buy the toy, we have volunteers for this job. If you purchase a Target gift card from the Script program we will help the school and a child. The cards could be placed in an envelope and marked Christmas Toys. Please contact Sandy Kahler with any questions at 815-877-7936.

Any day is an Open House at St. Paul Lutheran School.  You may direct interested families to our Admission Counselor Team of Dyan Lofgren (ext. 215) and Sue Wilkinson (est. 210).  They can be emailed at stpaulrockford@gmail.com or called at 815-965-3335.

Little Lambs is now accepting applications for fall enrollment. Please call Katie Lopez at 815-965-3335, ext. 218.
