 Generosity Moment - Deuteronomy 4:6   “Keep them and do them, for that will be your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who, when they hear all these statutes, will say, 'Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.'” There is no wiser, more fulfilling life than a life lived according to the Word of God. We should be encouraged by this when the world tempts us to think that the Word of God is harmful to us. Our Father loves us; so all His Word is meant to bless us, even the part that calls us to give sacrificially and generously every week in our church offerings.

 New Twelve Month Theme -  As we’ve done for quite a number of years, this year we again have a new theme to consider as we begin our fall walk together in a year of faith in our Lord.  Our theme this year is:   “Jesus’ Light, Piercing Our Darkness.” Jesus brightens our world with His Light in the following way:  “This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:5-7)  Please notice the prayer at the bottom of the last page herein that we together can pray regularly that highlights this theme the way it all works in our lives as well.

Attention Piecemakers! There will be no quilting on Sept 1, but we will quilt the rest of the Tuesdays in September.

Church/School Picnic – Our Church Planning Council has decided to at least postpone our picnic to another date yet to be determined.  If you are interested in working on having a church picnic, please contact Jon Schuknecht at 815-298-6378 or Pastor Thies.

LADIES GUILD IS INVITING the women of St. Paul to our meeting on Wednesday, September 2nd to begin our 2015-2016 schedule of service and activities.  We will begin with a noon Potluck at the Northwest Site.  Please bring a favorite dish to pass.  Table service, a Beverage and Dessert will be provided.  A SPECIAL TREAT will be given to current members who bring a NEW prospective member with them.  Yearly dues of $20, and your MITES saved since June will be collected.

Rejoice!  Give Thanks!  And Sing!  The Chancel "Praise" Choir begins its music ministry for Fall on Thursday, September 3rd. Practices will be Thursdays at the Northwest Site from 6:00 to 7:00PM.  Members will sing 2 to 3 Sundays a month between both sites.  Consider joining this faithful group as we lead the congregation in singing praises to our Lord!  For more information contact Dawn Stock at 815-871-5808.

7th & 8th grade Confirmation class continues this evening for any 7th and 8th graders.  We will meet with Pastor Thies at 6:30pm at the NORTHWEST site. Please pray for our young people who are growing to a greater maturity in the study and understanding of “the Word of Life.”

Please consider joining Immanuel, Belvidere to celebrate Pastor Allan Buss’ 25th year in the ministry. This celebration will take place on Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 1:00 to 4:00pm in the fellowship hall (Door #4) at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Road, Belvidere, IL  61008. Rev. Dr. Herbert Mueller, First VP of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod wi3ll preach for services on Sunday at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00am. He will also give a brief recognition of the Anniversary of Ordination for Pastor Buss at each service. 

Dinner Auction 2015 – An American Girl doll, Julie, has been donated for the auction. Once again, we are asking for outfits for the doll. Last year we were able to make two packages which went over very well. You can buy or make an outfit, by sewing, knitting or crocheting.
