Prayer for the Day is a daily devotional ministry. To hear a devotion recorded by Pastor Thies, please call the special Prayer for the Day phone number (963-7641) and then dial 3 when the call is answered.

Generosity Moment - 2 Corinthians 8:3  “For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own free will.” St. Paul lifts up an example of faithful Christian generosity in the Epistle lesson today. Read those words again this week and ponder them. How is the Lord calling you to increase your generosity toward His work, even in regular weekly offering giving?

SOMETHING DIFFERENT – Join us for our Wednesday night activity at 6:30pm at Northwest site with a devotional Bible Study led by Pastor Thies.  We will continue THIS WEEK, Wednesday, July 1st, when our topic from Answers in Genesis will be “Where did the “Races” Come From?” Come and try SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

Piecemakers - Beginning in July, we will meet every Tuesday from 9 am to 11:30 am at the NW site. Thanks to donations of money for materials from St. Paul Ladies Guild and Dorothy Clegg’s memorial fund and the labor of Jim Brooke and Dennis Slagell, we now have a quilters’ cupboard at the NW site. Anyone interested in joining us to work on these quilts is welcome on any or all Tuesday mornings. The quilts we make are sent annually to LWR and are distributed by them to those in need around the world.

Be thinking ahead – NEIGHBORFEST is Sunday, July 12th – Can you help?  We need lots of helpers.  No experience needed.  We have jobs like set up, serving food, making friends, pitching in, handing out, joining in, and cleaning up. We also need 6-8 volunteers to make a batch of Bar-B-Q (aka Sloppy Joe) ahead of the event and deliver it. It’s a fun annual event that takes as many of us a possible to let the neighbors around Central site that we are part of their neighborhood and we want to share with them our witness of Jesus and invitation to join us regularly.  If you can help, please contact Scott Harkins (815-566-9581) or Carol Ulrich (815-277-7838) or the church office (815-963-5435).

Summer Retreat for SPYs (Youth) – The date is drawing closer for our Thursday, July 16 through Sunday, July 19, Summer Retreat at Beck’s cabin in Rome, Wisconsin.  Right now we really know if you are able to come.  Please let Pastor Thies know if you have not already.  We’re planning a lot of fun as we had last year!
