Prayer for the Day is a daily devotional ministry. To hear a devotion recorded by Pastor Thies, please call the special Prayer for the Day phone number (963-7641) and then dial 3 when the call is answered.

Generosity Moment - Mark 4:40  He said to them, "Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?" Faith means trust. If we trust the Lord, what do we have to be afraid of? Isn’t it fear that holds us back in our stewardship? Isn’t it fear that stops us from following the Lord’s Word to give generously toward His work in the Church? So we must ask ourselves, “Well … why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?" The Lord has proved His trustworthiness by His going to the cross. So how far are we willing to trust Him in our giving?

SOMETHING DIFFERENT – Join us for our Wednesday night activity at 6:30pm at Northwest site with a devotional Bible Study led by Pastor Thies.  We will resume THIS WEEK, Wednesday, June 24th, when our topic from Answers in Genesis will be “Do Animals Evolve?” Come and try SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

SUMMER HOURS for Sue in the church office began June 15th from 8:00am – Noon and continue until Monday, August 10th.

Our member church worker Mr. John Schmid has received a call to a position in worship and music arts at our sister congregation Mount Olive Lutheran here in Rockford. Please pray for John as he considers this new opportunity.

TODAY - SWEETEN IT UP WITH SPYS CINNAMON ROLLS – This morning (Fathers Day) our SPYS high school and junior high youth will be hosting a fundraiser with freshly-baked, scrumptious, titillating, mouth-watering, irresistible, OUT OF THIS WORLD Cinnamon Rolls for purchase following the services at Northwest site in the Entrance Way (Narthex). If there are any left, they will be available at Central Site after the 10:30am service.  This will be a fundraiser to help them finance some of their summer events and to save up for next summer’s National Youth Gathering in New Orleans.  We will accept your generous Free Will offering for you to get your fill of an EXTRA TREAT for yourself! Why not buy them and share with someone else? Thank you, Board of Youth Parents, for putting this together.

Piecemakers - Beginning in July, we will meet every Tuesday from 9 am to 11:30 am at the NW site. Thanks to donations of money for materials from St. Paul Ladies Guild and Dorothy Clegg’s memorial fund and the labor of Jim Brooke and Dennis Slagell, we now have a quilters’ cupboard at the NW site. Anyone interested in joining us to work on these quilts is welcome on any or all Tuesday mornings. The quilts we make are sent annually to LWR and are distributed by them to those in need around the world.

Be thinking ahead – NEIGHBORFEST is Sunday, July 12th – Can you help?  We need lots of helpers.  No experience needed.  We have jobs like set up, serving food, making friends, pitching in, handing out, joining in, and cleaning up. We also need 6-8 volunteers to make a batch of Bar-B-Que (aka Sloppy Joe) ahead of the event and deliver it. It’s a fun annual event that takes as many of us a possible to let the neighbors around Central site that we are part of their neighborhood and we want to share with them our witness of Jesus and invitation to join us regularly.  If you can help, please contact Scott Harkins (815-566-9581), Carol Ulrich (815-277-7838), Lowes Eggert (815-312-0053) or the church office (815-963-5435).
