Generosity Moment - Mark 3:35  “Whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.” Doing the will of God starts with trusting in His Son Jesus Christ. Once we have faith in Him and have been reborn as new creatures through Holy Baptism, we strive to grow in this faith and in a life that agrees with our faith. Growing in generosity, in kindness, and in love across our callings in the home, in church, and in society is growing into the family of God: for all who do His will, in our regular weekly gifts in our church offering and otherwise, are his brothers, and sisters, and mothers.

New Telephone Directories are available for pick up at each site. Please take one per family!  Enjoy them and get to know your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ … now with many cell phone and email contacts available!

SOMETHING DIFFERENT – Join us for our Wednesday night activity at 6:30pm at Northwest site with a devotional Bible Study led by Pastor Thies.  This week we continue a series of video lectures from Dr. Ken Ham of “Answers in Genesis.”  Dr. Ham maintains that “Genesis is the foundation for all Christian doctrine and even the gospel of Jesus Christ.”  Do you agree?  Come discuss. This week’s video selection is “IS THERE REALLY A GOD? Come and try SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

SERVICE TIMES FOR SUMMER – Our elders have wrestled with which way to go for summer this year and chose to err on the side of continuing services at the usual 8 & 10:30am at Central and 9:15am at Northwest or as may be otherwise advised at our July Congregational meeting.  Please thank our elders for their service.  It is they who get everything open and ready for you on a Sunday morning.

TODAY - ACOLYTE TRAINING for 5th graders and older is this morning at Central site in the sanctuary following our worship service.  In about a half hour Pastor Thies can show you the ropes of lighting the candles and you can determine what Sundays you do it.  It’s the beginning of service in the church.  It is also an expectation for those in Confirmation instruction.  Parents are welcome. We hope to see you there.

THIS WEEK - THURSDAY ACTIVITY DAY” on THIS Thursday, June 11th – Our Knitting, Etc. group has been meeting weekly the past year from 11am-1pm.  BUT NOW we would like so see if folks would like to branch into other activities at least once a month at the same time and broaden the group (to include men).  Any adult friendly activity is welcomed like card or domino playing, reading club, devotion or Bible study.  It’s just a Northwest site “hang out” day.  We would love to welcome new friends from the community too.  How about you?  Please join us from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, June 11th, or any Thursday for Knitting, Etc. YA’LL COME! (Pastor Thies did not come up with this name, subject to change.)

Rockford Lutheran School – As part of the Association, St. Paul is entitled to have a congregational delegate who, along with a pastor, may attend an annual informational meeting.  This year it is on Monday, June 15th at Lutheran High.  It usually last about an hour.  If desired, a congregational delegate could lend themselves to a more active role in leadership in the Association but there is no obligation to do so.  If you have any interest in being a delegate or just attending this meeting, please contact Pastor Thies.

Be thinking ahead – NEIGHBORFEST is Sunday, July 12th – Can you help?  We need lots of helpers.  No experience needed.  We have jobs like set up, serving food, making friends, pitching in, handing out, joining in, and cleaning up. We also need 6-8 volunteers to make a batch of Bar-B-Que (aka Sloppy Joe) ahead of the event and deliver it. It’s a fun annual event that takes as many of us a possible to let the neighbors around Central site that we are part of their neighborhood and we want to share with them our witness of Jesus and invitation to join us regularly.  If you can help, please contact Scott Harkins (815-566-9581) or Carol Ulrich (815-277-7838) or the church office (815-963-5435).

Thank you St. Paul Foundation – Recently a mailing was made to nearly 4,000 households inviting them to our Answers in Genesis presentation at SOMETHING DIFFERENT Wednesdays at the Northwest site.  The costs of the mailing were not incurred from your offering gifts because of a grant covering them all by our St. Paul Foundation.  We are thankful for this gift that provided such an invitation and, even if many did not attend from the community, each received the presentation of their desire to join us anytime here at St. Paul for worship and a church home.

Any day is an Open House at St. Paul Lutheran School.  You may direct interested families to our Admission Counselor Team of Dyan Lofgren (ext. 215) and Sue Wilkinson (est. 210).  They can be emailed at stpaulrockford@gmail.com or called at 815-965-3335.

St. Paul Ram Summer Band Camp – Registration is open for Ram Summer Band Camp 2015. Band Camp is held at the Northwest Site from 9:00am – Noon each day the week of June 15th. All are invited to the finale outdoor concert on Friday, June 19th at 7:30pm in the outdoor worship area. Band Camp is open to any student entering the 5th through 9th grades who have played their instrument for at least one school year from any school. Contact Mr. Volkert if you would like your child to participate (815-965-3335 ext. 217). You may also register and find full information at www.freewebs.com/bvolkert.
