Generosity Moment - John 3:6  “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” In Holy Baptism we receive a new birth: spirit from Spirit. With that rebirth we receive new desires, new lives, new purposes. To the (fleshly) world, Christian generosity makes no sense – a total minus a percentage is less than the original total. But Spirit-reborn Christians now that God’s math works differently (as we might expect from the Trinity!): a blessing received from God becomes more of blessing when it is used in generosity to bless others through our committed weekly financial offering or in other ways.

TODAY New Telephone Directories are available for pick up at each site. Please take one per family!  Enjoy them and get to know your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ … now with many cell phone and email contacts available!

Monday Morning Bible Class will meet tomorrow morning (June 1st) at Stockholm Inn at 10:00am. Please join us for food and fellowship!

SOMETHING DIFFERENT – Join us for our Wednesday night activity at 6:30pm at Northwest site with a devotional Bible Study led by Pastor Thies.  This week we continue a series of video lectures from Dr. Ken Ham of “Answers in Genesis.”  Dr. Ham maintains that “Genesis is the foundation for all Christian doctrine and even the gospel of Jesus Christ.”  Do you agree?  Come discuss. This week’s video selection is “WHY IS THERE DEATH AND SUFFERING? Come and try SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

LADIES GUILD has planned an "End of Season" luncheon at Noonan's at Aldeen Golf Club, and we invite all St. Paul women to make a reservation and join us.  The luncheon is on Wednesday, June 3rd at 11:30am.  Noonan's is located on the south side of Spring Creek between Mulford and Perryville at 1900 Reid Farm Road.  Turn in by the Aldeen Golf sign, and follow the road back to the clubhouse.  Reservations can be made to Betty Steiner (815-877-2721) or Vicky Semenchuk (815-877-3874) by June 1st if you did not do so at the May meeting.  Bring your MITES saved to this luncheon, and continue saving MITES and PERSONAL CARE items over the summer They can be deposited in the containers at each site.

SERVICE TIMES FOR SUMMER – Our elders have wrestled with which way to go for summer this year and chose to err on the side of continuing services at the usual 8 & 10:30am at Central and 9:15am at Northwest or as may be otherwise advised at our July Congregational meetings.  Please thank our elders for their service.  It is they who get everything open and ready for you on a Sunday morning.
ACOLYTE TRAINING for 5th graders and older is rescheduled to Sunday, June 7th at 11:45am at Central site in the sanctuary following our worship service.  In about a half hour Pastor Thies can show you the ropes of lighting the candles and you can determine what Sundays you do it.  It’s the beginning of service in the church.  It is also an expectation for those in Confirmation instruction.  Parents are welcome. We hope to see you there.

THURSDAY ACTIVITY DAY” on Thursday, June 11th – Our Knitting, Etc. group has been meeting weekly the past year from 11am-1pm.  BUT NOW we would like so see if folks would like to branch into other activities at least once a month at the same time and broaden the group (to include men).  Any adult friendly activity is welcomed like card or domino playing, reading club, devotion or Bible study.  It’s just a Northwest site “hang out” day.  We would love to welcome new friends from the community too.  How about you?  Please join us from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, June 11th, or any Thursday for Knitting, Etc. YA’LL COME! (Pastor Thies did not come up with this name, subject to change.)

Many thanks to the St. Paul Lutheran Box Top collectors. $319 worth were submitted this past week!!  Keep collecting over the summer and drop them off in the office or give to Liz Temple at any time.
