Do you knit? Would you be willing to help others learn to knit? Would you like to learn how to knit? There is some interest in forming a group that would meet at the NW Site on Thursdays at 11:00 for a couple of hours doing just this. This would be open to anyone interested and might draw newcomers to our church. We could give it a try and see how it goes. if you are interested please call Lowes Eggert at 815/312/0053. Further details will be developed depending on the response.
Celebrate! The family of Genevieve Rathke invite you to her 90 1/2 birthday celebration on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Northwest Site from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Your presence will be her favorite gift!
A Pampered Chef Kitchen Shower for Lorrie Wolf will be held on Saturday, June 28th at 2:00pm in the Undercroft. Help Lorrie fill her kitchen after losing everything in the fire! Her wish list can be found on this website: http://new.pamperedchef.com/pws/julieswansonspc/guest-landing/8873684745371
The VBS Committee has placed donation boat boards at the Central and Northwest Sites. You can help by picking a life preserver and donating a craft, snack or decoration supply! We are also very thankful for any monetary donations. We are partnering with Mt. Olive this year, so we are excited about our combined adventure here at St. Paul! Registration forms are also available near the donation board. Or you can register online at http://www.mtolivelutheran.com. Please consider registering children that are in preschool 3 years old (potty trained) through 6th grade for our Gangway to Galilee VBS July 14-18th from 3:00pm – 5:30pm. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Woolery.
Neighbor Fest is here again!!! It is going to be on Sunday July 13th at 2:30 p.m. at the Central Site. We are looking for 6 - 8 people to make 6 pounds of sloppy joes. If making sloppy joes isn't your specialty we can use cookies, condiments, paper plates etc. In addition, any help would be greatly appreciated. We will need all donations at the church around 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. If you would like to make a donations or help please call Dan or Nancy Collins at 815-398-0129.
St. Paul needs one lay and one lay advisory delegate to the triennial Northern Illinois District (NID) Convention at Concordia University, Chicago on Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7, 2015. If you have any interest or would like more information, please speak with Pastor Thies who plans to attend as well.
DID YOU MISS CHURCH WITH US OR SKIP YOUR OFFERING gift to St. Paul last week? Please remember that we are blessed by our financial giving and one way is that we still have a church, school and staff because of gifts like yours. When you miss, please consider making it up the next week. If we don’t, we might not have these blessings together one day!
"Jesus is My Treasure!" That is the theme selected for the 2014-2015 school year at St. Paul Lutheran School. This is a special year for St. Paul because some records indicate that it will be the 125th anniversary of the school! This number has been difficult to determine. However, Delphine Poellot has done some digging into the history of the church and school and concludes that it very well may be the 125th year of education at St. Paul. Our cake will need many candles!
We Need Students! Our upper grades are near capacity but we have PLENTY of seats available in our lower grades! Please contact Mr. Volkert or Mrs. Warner with information you can provide for prospective families.
Office sitters needed! Our office is not staffed often during the month of July. We would love to have someone there to answer phones and assist those who come to visit. You can bring a book or surf the web to pass the time! There is also a need for office sitters during the school year in the afternoons. There are plenty of chances to interact with our wonderful young people during those times. Please contact the school office or Bruce Volkert if you are interested.
Have you provided 10 names (or more or less) for our St. Paul Lutheran Support mailing list? We hope to have our list together by Easter Sunday. We have a new form available in the narthex which allows you to put all your names on one sheet. Remember, those on the mailing list will simply receive a newsletter about our school and the ministry that we honored to provide. We will not continually bug them with mailings! We simply want more people throughout the area and around the country to be aware of our school ministry. Please see Mr. Volkert if you have any questions.
We would love to have more companies join us in the credit card processing program. There is absolutely no cost to the customers and no additional fee paid by companies. It is a win-win way to support Christian education in Rockford. Anyone in our church can be an ambassador for the program. You don’t need to know anything about credit cards! You simply need to have a passion for our school ministry. Sam’s Drive-In in Byron along with Gulers Appliance are taking part in this program that benefits our school. So, patrons of Sam’s and Guler’s help to provide gifts to St. Paul. Please talk to Mr. Volkert if you would like to learn more!
