Prayer for the Day is a daily devotional
ministry. To hear a devotion recorded by Pastor Thies, please call the special
Prayer for the Day phone number (963-7641) and then dial 3 when the call is
answered.
Generosity Moment – Acts 2:1 “When the
day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.” Pentecost is
the Old Testament harvest festival – it happens around the time when the wheat
and oats are ready to be brought in. Of course, this was a picture and
foreshadowing of the great harvest of humankind that God means to bring in
through the preaching of His Word. God gives the seed, and God brings about the
harvest. From first to last, in things temporal and things eternal, we stand
only by His grace. It is confidence in this grace of God through Christ to
provide all we need that we give our financial offerings.
Pastor Thies is away today with his family
for vacation. He returns to the office
tomorrow. Please direct any pastoral
concerns to the church office or Pastor Ciprys at 815-962-6814.
Today Pastor Keith Haney will be
our guest preacher at all services as Pastor Thies will be away. As most know, Pastor Haney serves us through
the Northern Illinois District (NID) of the LCMS to help churches with new
programs and to find their church workers like pastors. Please welcome him again!
Today is our CHURCH 4U
Neighborhood Service at 2:30pm at the Central site. Pastor Haney will serve as preacher and Carl
Cole and company will deliver the music.
Our service will be outside under the tent. Come help us welcome those
the Lord sends and to serve food and worship the Lord with our neighbors!
“SOMETHING DIFFERENT” resumes this week at 6:30pm on
Wednesday at the Northwest site. It
includes devotional worship and a Bible study on Revelation with Pastor
Thies. Try it out and bring a friend.
SPYS (Jr. & High
School Youth) – Plan on coming to
this summers first SPYS Breakfast this Thursday at Sunrise Restaurant (Alpine
& Windsor) in Loves Park. We will
meet at 9:30am. Please bring $10 but you
will probably only need $5ish. We can
pick you up. FB, call or text Pastor
Thies at 815-962-2145 to arrange it. We
should be done by 11am.
SUNDAY SCHOOL is
discontinued until the fall.
However, we encourage families to get together and make a Sunday School
time to work as they might wish in our facilities as it works around our
services. If you would like any pointer
or ideas, check our library resources in the Undercroft and/or please speak
with Pastor Thies for more.
DID YOU MISS CHURCH WITH US OR
SKIP YOUR OFFERING gift to St. Paul
last week? Please remember that we are
blessed by our financial giving and one way is that we still have a church,
school and staff because of gifts like yours.
When you miss, please consider making it up the next week. If we don’t, we might not have these
blessings together one day!
Band Camp – Our 12th
annual band camp is June 23 –June 27. Mr. Schmid and Mr. Volkert are the camp
directors. It is open to 5th – 9th grade students from
any school with one year of band experience. To register a child please call,
815-965-3335 ext 217 or go to www.freewebs.com/bvolkert.

prescription eyeglasses, readers and inexpensive sunglasses for adults and
children for the LWML of the Northern Illinois District. The glasses will be
distributed during Mission trips done by our
churches. Throughout May all glasses may be placed in the marked containers in
the narthex at each site.
Job
opportunities at St. Paul
Lutheran School
-
We are looking for candidates to serve as caring, Christian teachers in
our 5th through 8th grades beginning in the Fall. Please direct any
interested people to our principal, Bruce Volkert. You may call the
school (815-965-3335 ext. 217) or send an email to principal@stpaulrockford.org
St. Paul Lutheran School is also
looking for a K-4 music teacher. This is two afternoons a week. If you are
interested or know of someone, please call the school (815-965-3335, ext. 217).
Have you provided 10 names (or more or less) for
our St. Paul Lutheran Support mailing list? We hope to have our list
together by Easter Sunday. We have a new form available in the narthex
which allows you to put all your names on one sheet. Remember, those on the
mailing list will simply receive a newsletter about our school and the ministry
that we honored to provide. We will not continually bug them with
mailings! We simply want more people throughout the area and around the
country to be aware of our school ministry. Please see Mr. Volkert if you
have any questions.
We would love to have more companies join us in the credit card
processing program. There is absolutely no cost to the customers and no
additional fee paid by companies. It is a win-win way to support Christian
education in Rockford .
Anyone in our church can be an ambassador for the program. You don’t need to
know anything about credit cards! You simply need to have a passion for our
school ministry. Sam’s Drive-In in Byron along with Gulers Appliance are taking
part in this program that benefits our school. So, patrons of Sam’s and Guler’s
help to provide gifts to St. Paul .
Please talk to Mr. Volkert if you would like to learn more!
Little
Lambs is
now accepting applications for summer and fall enrollment. Please call Jan
Morton at 815-965-3335, ext. 218.
Mrs. Lynn Warner is our school Admissions
Counselor. You are always welcome to provide names and contact information to
her for perspective school families. You can reach her at 815-965-3335.
We Need Students! Our upper grades are near
capacity but we have PLENTY of seats available in our lower grades!
Please contact Mr. Volkert or Mrs. Warner with information you can provide for
prospective families.
Office
sitters needed! Our office is not
staffed often during the month of July.
We would love to have someone there to answer phones and assist those
who come to visit. You can bring a book
or surf the web to pass the time! There
is also a need for office sitters during the school year in the
afternoons. There are plenty of chances
to interact with our wonderful young people during those times. Please contact the school office or Bruce
Volkert if you are interested.
The VBS Committee has placed donation boat
boards at the Central and Northwest Sites. You can help by picking a life
preserver and donating a craft, snack or decoration supply! We are also very
thankful for any monetary donations. We are partnering with Mt. Olive
this year, so we are excited about our combined adventure here at St. Paul ! Registration
forms are also available near the donation board. Or you can register online at
http://www.mtolivelutheran.com.
Please consider registering children that are in preschool 3 years old (potty
trained) through 6th grade for our Gangway to Galilee VBS July 14-18th
from 3:00pm – 5:30pm. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer
Woolery.
Neighbor Fest is here again!!! It is going to be on
Sunday July 13th at 2:30 p.m. at the Central Site. We are looking for 6 - 8
