We will continue our study on Relationships. Also bring $20 for your registration for the NID Youth Gathering Friday, March 25-26th at Trinity, Roselle (Elgin area). And Sunday, remember, it’s more fun if everybody comes, including YOU.
“Restore the Roar!” is the theme for our Lent midweek services. The Book of Amos has this as its singular goal: to restore the rightful roar from the Lion, Lord Yahweh, the God of Israel. The temptation is to put our hands over our ears to drown out His roar. The world, the devil, and our old Adam tempt us to clip the claws on the Lion and clean up His bloody Passion we are called to follow. But the Bride of Christ, the Church, is called to holy reverence before the Lord, the King of the universe. Join us under this theme and the Book of Amos in midweek Lenten worship on Wednesdays, 10:30am at Central and 7pm at Northwest.
THE LADIES GUILD will host a Potluck Lunch after the Wednesday morning Lenten services at the Central Site in the undercroft. Please bring a "dish to pass" from an old or new recipe. Table service and beverage is provided. ALL are welcome to be part of this meal and the fellowship.
THE LADIES GUILD SPRING RALLY for LWML for our Zone will be on Saturday, March 22nd at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rockford. Care Ministry Gathering - We are thankful to all who have served as Care Ministers in the past and for all that has been accomplished in the past. We are eager to see what comes next for the Care Ministry at St. Paul. We encourage anyone who is considering this area of serving to join us in this process. Please mark your calendar to attend an all-included gathering on Sunday, March 23rd after the 10:30 service at Central Site in the undercroft. We will be reflecting on Care Ministry so far and planning for what is next. Meal and beverages will be provided as well as paper products and utensils. This is a time for anyone wanting to learn more about the Care Ministry and how it works to come and find out. Child care for the meeting portion will be provided if requested in advance. If you have any questions please call Roger 815-742-1988Lowes 815-742-5788Eggert. Hope to see you there.
Wolf Family Fund - You may have heard about the fire that destroyed the Aaron and Lorrie Wolf's house on Thursday, February 27. While we give thanks that no one was hurt, their needs are great as nearly everything they owned was destroyed in the fire. We are working with Lutheran Church Charities to provide an easy way for those wishing to help the family to be able to make tax deductible donations. You may make a donation via credit card through LCC's website at www.lutheranchurchcharities.org. Checks may also be mailed to Lutheran Church Charities at 333 W. Lake Street, Addison, Illinois 60101 (put "The Aaron Wolf Family" in the memo). Checks made out to Lutheran Church Charities may also left at the church. If you have any questions, please contact our Treasurer, Erica de Guzman, at 815-877-7146.
St. Paul Lutheran School will be celebrating National Lutheran Schools' Week this coming week. Our Grandparents and Special Friends' day will be on Wednesday, March 12.
Pastor Krause is planning on starting a new “Learn to read Greek” class on Thursday, March 13th. This is a slow-paced, informal class where lay-people can learn to read the New Testament in the original Greek language. There are people from a few different churches who attend, so you won’t feel like an outsider. We regularly meet on Thursday from 4:30 to 5:30 PM in the basement of Mount Olive Lutheran church (2001 N. Alpine). Come and see how a different approach to reading the bible can open new avenues to understanding God’s word for us. If you have any questions, contact Pastor Krause at Mount Olive (815-399-3171)or Jon Schuknecht, who is one of the current students.
