Generosity Moment - Luke 15:2  “And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, ‘This man receives sinners and eats with them.’" Thanks be to God: Jesus receives us sinners! What the Pharisees can’t understand, we praise with all our being: the grace of God. We live by that grace and the more of it we receive, the more we will want to conform ourselves to the image of our generous and gracious Lord. Knowing the Lord and trusting Him come first...and the desire to imitate Him can't help but follow, even in maturing in giving generously in our weekly offerings.

This morning, we introduce our new twelve month theme picked by our Church Council and Pastor Thies.  The theme is “Great is Thy Faithfulness.”  This year, in a chaotic world, we consider what we CAN count on in life.

Sunday School - There will be a Sunday School meeting this morning, September 11, at 9:30 in the band room. This meeting is to brain storm some ideas to make Sunday School more efficient for the students and their teachers. If you have an interest, either as a parent or as a helper, please plan on attending. Your attendance does not automatically make you obligated to be a teacher. Until we are able to have a workable plan for our Sunday School, we are unable to provide its commencement this fall.

Monday Morning Bible Class returns tomorrow, September 12th. We meet in the Undercroft at 10:00am. Pastor begins a new study on the opening of Genesis and consider how crucial this portion of God’s word is to the underpinning of all the rest of its Truth. Come join us for fun, prayer, study of God’s word and some wonderful morning snacks! Give it a try if you haven't yet!

The Foundation Fund directors manage an account from which interest earned is available for active St. Paul Lutheran families who have a student(s) enrolled in Rockford Lutheran High School.  The account has received memorials in honor of saints who are now in the Church Triumphant, as well as gifts from other supporters of Lutheran High School. If you have a high school student at Lutheran, please contact Steve Hartenberger at 968-2089 or hrtnbrgr@comcast.net by September 30, 2016.  We will send a check to the school and evenly allocate the available funds to each student’s tuition shortly after the deadline.

Northwest Site carpet cleaning is scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, September 12. If anyone can stay after 9:15am worship this morning to move stuff out of the fellowship hall, it would be greatly appreciated.

Dinner Auction – Are you interested in helping with this year’s Dinner Auction? If so, come out to Granite City next Thursday, September 15 at 6:30pm. There are many ways to help, big and small. If you are interested in helping make this fun event a success but are unable to attend the meeting, please contact Mrs. Jepsen at 815-965-3335 ext. 217 or tjepsen.stpaul@gmail.com.

The first PTL event of the year is tomorrow! We will have a Walking Taco/Ice Cream Social in the gym and cafeteria on Monday, September 12 from 5-7PM. All are welcome to join us for this fun evening!

Are you interested in being a tutor or reading with St. Paul students? If so, please contact Carol Ulrich or Tara Jepsen at 815-965-3335. We are in need of volunteer tutors to work with students of all ages, any day of the week!

Mark your calendars! The first St. Pauliday will be on Sunday, September 18th at Sam’s Drive-In in Byron from noon to 4:00pm. A St. Pauliday is an opportunity to get together, eat a delicious meal out, and help support St. Paul Lutheran School! Thank you to Shirlee Aldrich for hosting our first one of the year!
