Generosity Moment - Luke 17:10: So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.'” We can never put God in our debt. Even if we lived in perfect compliance with the Law we would still only be unworthy servants. Our giving to the Lord’s work in the Church is a sign that we recognize our role as servants and our need for that work of the Lord in the Church that blesses us with His Word and Sacraments.

Join us for Sunday School! We began last week but all can join in.  Journey with the Old Testament Israelites as they are led by the judges and their first king in their struggles to remain faithful to God. Discover how our lives today are similar to that of the Old Testament Israelites. All children Pre-K through 8th grade are invited to attend Sunday School at the Central Site at 9:15am in the school’s band room. Don’t miss out on the four M’s of Sunday School this year – MUSIC, MISSIONS, MEMORY VERSES and MESSAGE (Bible Story)!!

LADIES GUILD will be meeting on TUESDAY, October 4th at the Northwest Site at 1:00pm. After the business meeting, we will organize and prepare the dining room for the Salad, Sandwich and Pie Luncheon being served on Wednesday, October 5th.  Pies and Salads are still needed and requested.  Contact Vicky Semenchuk (815-877-3874) or Betty Steiner (815-877-2721) to donate.  Remember to bring MITES and to pay $20 yearly dues if not paid at the September meeting.

On Wednesday October 5th one of the traditions of fall begins with our Ladies Guild serving of the SANDWICH, SALAD and PIE Luncheon.  Serving times are from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Northwest Site.  Tickets are $7.00 and can be purchased from any Ladies Guild member or on the day of the luncheon.  Anyone willing to donate a salad or pie can do so by contacting Betty Steiner (815-877-2721) or Vicky Semenchuk (815-877-3874).   Flu shots for 2016 are available from 10:30am until 1:00pm. Medicare B, Medicaid or cash ($35 for 18-65 years old and $60 for High Dose Flu Shot for 65+ years) will be accepted.

On Saturday, October 8th our Zone LWML Fall Workshop will take place at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rockford.  Registration begins at 8:30am, and the cost is $5.00.  A breakfast is served at 9:00am. If you are interested in attending please contact Pat Brees at 815-398-9152 by Monday, October 3rd. After business has been conducted, we will be recycling greeting cards into notecards which we will then send to missionary families with a short encouraging note from you. Please bring a pair of small scissors if you can

Next Sunday we recognize the contributions of our ladies through our Ladies Guild and the Lutheran Womens Missionary League (LWML). We expect that our ladies will be showing some of the work that they do, often behind the scenes, but with a vital impact in the lives of people and in proclaiming the Gospel to the world through their contributions.

Next weekend, our Junior Confirmation students, Pastor Thies, and a few adults will be in Fort Wayne for a Confirmation Retreat at Concordia Theological Seminary.  The retreat will mix fun and learning the faith which we share.  The theme for the retreat is “Angels, Demons and Ghosts- Oh My!”  They leave Friday and return Sunday and as part of the trip the group will attend historic St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne and will stop and tour the Valparaiso University Chapel.  Please pray that our trip is safe and edifying.

Knitting ETC and Community Activity Day Potluck will be held at the NW Site October 13th at 11:00am. Please come and join us in fun, food and fellowship. Bring a dish to share, everything else will be provided. We have a good time and keep in touch with each other.

Sunday, October 16th, there will be a special Congregational meeting to call Ralph Peterson (7 & 8th grade teacher) and to grant a peaceful release to Katie Miller.

The family of Phil and Vicky Semenchuk extends an invitation to an Open House to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary.  Join with them on Sunday, October 9th between 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Northwest Site. A light lunch will be served.  Sharing this time with them would be the most treasured and memorable gift they could receive.
