Serving in God’s House at Northwest Site Today:
Preacher: Pastor  Thies                Elder: Tim King

Prayer for the Day is a daily devotional ministry. To hear a devotion recorded by Pastor Thies, please call the special Prayer for the Day phone number (963-7641) and then dial 3 when the call is answered.

Generosity Moment - Rev. 21:1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.” The things of this world are passing away. We are waiting for a new heaven and a new earth that has been promised to us in Christ. This knowledge is foundational for our stewardship of what God has put into our hands. What is truly important? What is worthy of our support? How has God called us to use “unrighteous mammon” for the good of our neighbor and His kingdom in our weekly financial offering?

Are you or is someone you know interested in learning more what our core beliefs are as a church and Christian church body?  Our second class installment will be next Sunday, May 1st, from 4-8pm.  See Pastor Thies for additional details.

Principal Call –Sunday, April 3rd, our congregation extended a call to Mrs. Beth Landon who presently serves as Principal at Bethlehem Lutheran School in Fairborn, Ohio. She responded this week to let us know that she felt compelled to decline our call and remain where she presently serves a newer growing school.  Please pray for our Call Committee as they consider our other options for going forward for our school leadership.

Thank you to all who supported our youth through our Cinnamon Roll Sales.  We netted $201 in funds to aid in sending our party of four youth and three adults to New Orleans this July for the LCMS National Lutheran Youth Gathering.  Hope you enjoyed the sweetness!  Watch for the next sale date in May.
St. Paul Place Neighborhood Clean Up Day - April 30th from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Please join in the effort to clean up our St. Paul Central Site neighborhood streets, sidewalks, alleys and Acorn Park. Together we can make a difference and improve neighborhood pride. St. Paul Urban Ministries will be coordinating volunteers at Acorn Park located in the 600 block of Rockton Ave. Gloves, garbage bags and other supplies will be provided. This will also be an opportunity to get to know each other better and share our hopes and ideas for our neighborhood. We hope to see you there!

LADIES GUILD WILL MEET on Wednesday, May 4th at the Northwest Site at 1:00pm.  The program will be presented by Diane Newman, who is the daughter of (the late Elsie) and Bill Westphal.  She will explain the special therapy provided through the work she does with the "Weighted Blanket Project."  We will have the Installation of Officers for 2016-2017 and select a restaurant for the June Luncheon.  REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR MITES.

Habitat for Humanity - The building season for Habitat is starting the first Saturday in May. We are building 5 houses this year and could use more volunteers. We work from 9 till 3 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 8:30 till 4:00 on Saturdays. On Tuesday and Thursdays you provide you own Lunch on Saturday they provide lunch, which usually consist of a sandwich, fruit, chips and a cookie or brownie, everything is pretty good. I have been doing this for 12 or 13 years and have helped build 15 or 16 houses and enjoy it very much.  The chances to be a witness to your faith is great and to meet and make new friends also. You really don’t need special skills to help; you can be a runner or just help hold some thing, or we will teach you as we go along. You don’t have to come every day just come when you can. I will be working on 2 houses near Montrose and Central. Pete Rundquist is a board member for Habitat and also helps on Saturdays. If you have question or are interested in helping let me know. Call Roger Eggert at 815 742 1988.
