Generosity Moment - Romans 3:20  “For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.” The Law of God is good – it’s just that we sinners cannot save ourselves by the Law. Salvation is a free gift of God because that’s the only way we could ever be saved. The Law shows us God’s holiness and thus our own sin. And now in Christ we can look at the Law and see it in a new light as well: as a guide for how to live a godly life in thanksgiving to God for His gracious forgiveness in Christ.  Our gift in Jesus received informs our regular offering giving each week.

Today SPYs Cinnamon Roll sales are happening at both sites! You can buy any available on the spot.  Dozen for $6; two dozen for $10; half for $4.  Checks to “St. Paul Youth,” please. Help our youth get to this summer’s 2016 National Youth Gathering in New Orleans with your purchase.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT continues this Wednesday where we are utilizing some video based materials for Lutheran Hour Ministries entitled, “The Man Named Luther.”  Come and join us and try SOMETHING DIFFERENT at the Northwest Site at 6:30pm. We have a fun group and good substance with Pastor Thies leading the study.

LADIES GUILD will have a meeting on Wednesday, November 4th at 1:00pm at the Northwest Site.  The meeting will begin with a speaker from the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program through Lutheran Social Services. Learn how your volunteer time can be applied to their program.  You are reminded to bring your MITES.  Special Request--Also bring canned or boxed food which will be combined with the Thanksgiving collection from the entire congregation and then distributed through our area food pantries.  Let us generously share with others in Thanksgiving for all God gives us.

Attention all military veterans – Veterans Day is observed the weekend of Sunday, November 8th this year.  We would like to do a better job of remembering all of you and your service this year.  To that end, we are trying to provide a full listing of military vets to be remembered at our service.  Our church office has a beginning list but we would to flesh is out with more details.  We would like name, rank abbreviation, branch, and the years in which you served.  We want reservist and National Guard vets too.  Please notify us at the church office at 815-963-5435 or church.office@stpaulrockford.org of any information you are willing to supply.

The 16th Annual Dinner Auction is right around the corner! The auction will be held on November 7th at Lino’s beginning at 5:30pm. We really are in need of donations! If you or you know of anyone who runs a business, has the talent of making or baking items or even donating financially, please ask if they would like to donate to this wonderful fundraiser! We already have received some wonderful donations such as: American Girl Doll, German Dinner for 6, Skydiving package, Amazon Echo, Apple Watch, Beats Headphones and other nice items! If you have any questions, please contact Sue in the church office (815-963-5435) or Dyan in the school office (815-965-3335). Reservation forms are in the Narthex at both sites.

Toy Collection for Kids -  Again this year, we will be collecting new toys for Christmas gifts for those less fortunate. We need toys for boys and girls. We would like dolls in all skin tones as we serve a variety of nationalities. We can use blankets or quilts in doll sizes that will be given with a doll. If you would rather have us buy the toy, we have volunteers for this job. If you purchase a Target gift card from the Script program we will help the school and a child. The cards could be placed in an envelope and marked Christmas Toys. Please contact Sandy Kahler with any questions at 815-877-7936.

Any day is an Open House at St. Paul Lutheran School.  You may direct interested families to our Admission Counselor Team of Dyan Lofgren (ext. 215) and Sue Wilkinson (est. 210).  They can be emailed at stpaulrockford@gmail.com or called at 815-965-3335.

Little Lambs is now accepting applications for fall enrollment. Please call Katie Lopez at 815-965-3335, ext. 218.
