Generosity Moment - Isaiah 51:6: “For the heavens vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment.” The things of this earth that hold our attention, that cause us worry, that tempt us away from the Lord: they are all passing away. They will vanish like a garment. They are not for us to worry over, but rather to use for the Lord's purposes. The things of this world are not ends in and of themselves, but only means to be used wisely by the children of the Kingdom that has no end.  Knowing this makes letting go of them for the Lord’s purposes in our weekly financial offerings a joy.

The Call Committee has begun the search for a permanent principal/teacher for our St. Paul School. We are seeking additional names from members and friends of St. Paul Lutheran School. If you have names of candidates, please contact Sue in the church office (815-963-5435) with names and contact information by December 1stOur functioning Call Committee consists of Dorothy Beck (Chair), Mary Brooke, Mark Beck, Vaughn DeGuzman, Christy Eldridge, Mike Woolery, Jon Schuknecht, LeeAnn Jacobson, and advisory members Pastor Thies & Dean Ulrich.  Please pray for them and our search process.

Come Ye Thankful People, Come.” As we ponder this thought, we think of all the things we have to be thankful for. Through our Board of Social Ministry invite your help in bringing canned or boxed food for needy families. Please no glass jars of any kind! Should you wish to donate a monetary gift, we are happy to pass that along to our area food pantries to help those in need in the most efficient way. Look for a Thanksgiving collection area at both sites. If you have any questions, please call the church office or Pastor Thies at 815-963-5435.

Ladies Guild is meeting on Wednesday, December 2nd at 12:30pm at the Central Site. This meeting will follow the 1st Advent Potluck Lunch. Remember to bring your MITES and the NICKELS saved in your Christmas Stocking.  The St. Paul School Band will present their 2015 program for us.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT will not meet again until after Christmas.

Please join the St. Paul Church and School families in the Parish Hall Gymnasium this Wednesday, November 25th for a special service of thanksgiving and praise to God. The service will be blessed by music from the church choir, the school children, the St. Paul Band and the 100 man chorus singing “How Great Thou Art.”  Be sure to make worship a central part of your Thanksgiving by attending the 7:00pm worship service!

SPYS THANKSGIVING DINNER will happen this morning following the 10:30 service in the cafeteria. Come enjoy Turkey, fellowship and fun! Please look for details on SPYS face book page. Hope to see you all there! Any questions, please contact Jennifer Beck 815-222-4596 or Mike Rolando 815-988-4358.

Toy Collection for Kids -  Again this year, we will be collecting new toys for Christmas gifts for those less fortunate. We need toys for boys and girls. We would like dolls in all skin tones as we serve a variety of nationalities. We can use blankets or quilts in doll sizes that will be given with a doll. If you would rather have us buy the toy, we have volunteers for this job. If you purchase a Target gift card from the Script program we will help the school and a child. The cards could be placed in an envelope and marked Christmas Toys. Please contact Sandy Kahler with any questions at 815-877-7936.

In conjunction with the choir's presentation of the Service of Carols at the 10:30am service on December 13, there will be a light lunch (soup and salad) served in the Undercroft. All are invited to join us. If you like, bring a dessert to share (though not required!) Please join us in fellowship after the 10:30am service on December 13.
