Generosity Moment - 1 John 3:2 “Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.” There is the essence of our sanctification: becoming like our Lord. As St. John notes, this will only be completed in the Resurrection. But in the meantime, our formation as disciples moves us to give sacrificially and generously in our offerings as Jesus did of Himself.
SOMETHING DIFFERENT returns – THIS WEEK, our Wednesday night activity at 6:30pm resumes at Northwest site with “SOMETHING DIFFERENT,” our devotional Bible Study led by Pastor Thies. With our new start, we will utilize a video based resource from Lutheran Hour Ministries called, “Bible on Trial: Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.” Our schedule for this presentation and discussion is as follows:
Wednesday, April 22nd - Answering the Bible's Critics
Wednesday, April 29th - Hard Evidence from the Ancient World
Wednesday, May 6th - Archaeology's Contribution
Wednesday, May 13th - Eyewitness Testimony
We also hope to promote this event to our community surrounding our Northwest site in the hopes of bringing new folk to explore our Christian family at St. Paul.
SO NOW’S YOUR CHANCE! Come and try SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
Please be considerate – We are so thankful to the Lord for how often we hear that our church and its services are so warmly friendly and our people inviting. However, sometimes before the services, many of our attenders wish some quiet time for reflection to pray and prepare for worship in the sanctuary. As a result, we would ask that any pre-service conversation be at a minimum or and at least at a whisper level in the sanctuary. We don’t want to stifle our fellowship together but we also want to foster time for meditation and preparation to worship our Lord. Above all, let’s continue our successfully enjoyed atmosphere of patience with each other as well.
