Generosity Moment - Ephesians 2:10  “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”  Even the good we do in this world is a gift from God, prepared beforehand for us to do. And this too is a gift! For isn’t doing good also good for the one who does it? So from first to last, from the Lord’s free salvation given to us to the good works He’s prepared for us to walk in, including financial giving to his church, it is all a gift of God’s grace.

Congregational Meeting NEXT SUNDAY! – The next semi-annual congregational meeting is set for next Sunday, March 22nd at 11:45am in the cafeteria at central site. At the meeting we will receive reports from Boards and entertain any questions, start honing in on the 2015-16 budget to begin August 1st, make some staff decisions necessary at this time and prepare for elections and appointments for necessary office and Board openings. Any confirmed member 18 or older may vote. Plan to come as we plan our future!

Breaking News - Hot off the Wire! Next Sunday our high school and junior high SPYs youth will be hosting a pulled pork sandwich meal in the Central site Cafeteria just prior to our Congregational meeting.  Serving will begin shortly after the 10:30am service.  Come get your belly full and stay for the meeting.  No price set yet but a donation of $6 or more per person will help us make up for some of our lost proceeds from our Super Bowl Sub Sunday when the weather did not cooperate for the turn out.

The Season of Lent continues Wednesday. It gives us another opportunity to rededicate ourselves to authentic worship and sincerity of faith as the Body of Christ together in His church here on earth. Mid-week services are at 10:30am at Central Site  (this week in the gymnasium) and 7:00pm at Northwest Site. Our messages delivered by Pastor Thies have themes for each Wednesday is as follows:
Lenten Midweek 5: The Afflicted Penitent Hopes in the Eternal Lord, Psalm 102
Lenten Midweek 6: The Penitent Waits Patiently on the Lord, Psalm 130
Maundy Thursday: The Penitent Thirsts for the Lord, Psalm 143
Good Friday: Our Lord Did This for You! Psalm 22

The Ladies Guild will host a Potluck lunch immediately following each of the morning Lenten services at the Central Site. and will continue on each Wednesday through March 25th. Please bring a dish to pass – beverage and table service are provided. ALL ARE WELCOME to join with us for lunch and a time of fellowship as we follow Christ’s journey to the cross.

Next Sunday IN GYM - Our new carpet for the Central site sanctuary and entrance way and installation should begin THIS WEEK.  What a great thing!  We are anticipating that our 8 & 10:30am Sunday worship services will be in the gym NEXT SUNDAY, March 22nd to allow for a smooth installation to be ready for our return to the sanctuary on Palm Sunday, March 29th.  We ask for your patience.

Mr. Volkert has informed us of his decision to accept the call to serve as Principal in Utica,
Michigan.  He will remain with us as Principal through the completion of this school year and
at least into July. Please pray for him, Marianne, Sarah & Daniel and all of us as they consider
their move, new roles, and we all encounter the difficulty of them leaving us. Please also pray
for our school ministry and answers to the questions of going forward.

With the transition from Mr. Volkert’s leadership our Board of Ed would like to proactively listen to parents early on as they consider solutions to going forward in leadership.  To that end, the Board has set a meeting time of this Monday, March 16th, at 6:30pm in the Cafeteria to begin such listening and sharing.  All parents of school age children, whether member or not, or whether presently in our school or not, are welcome!

Additional Devotion booklets “Around the World Lenten Devotions” are available also. There is a simple theme for each week. Each week has an assigned Psalm, Verse, Prayer and Hymn Stanza for use in your devotion. These devotions are designed to be completed in less than 10 minutes. You may pick up a copy to try at the church entrance ways.

A memorial plaque has been installed in the hallway outside the gym which remembers the friends of St. Paul who gave memorials to our school. You are welcome to visit the plaque and let us know if there is  a name that can be added. This plaque is in itself in memory of Richard “Dick” Schoonover.

Kindergarten Round-Up – Do you know parents with a student looking to begin Kindergarten next fall? Invite them to our Kindergarten Roundup on Wednesday, March 19 at 4:00pm until 6:30pm. This is a fine way for students to meet Miss Miller and our primary teachers. Young ones who attend will take part in “Minute to Win It” games as they get a taste of kindergarten. Call the school office for more information (815-965-3335 ext. 215). Please take an invitation (in the narthex) and share it with someone you know who is looking for a Christian education for their child/children.

St. Paul Moonlight Bowling – It’s that time of year again for the St. Paul Moonlight Bowling Extravaganza! This fun event will take place on Saturday, April 18th. Check in is at 7:00pm and bowling begins at 7:30pm. Cost is $40.00 per couple, which includes the following: 3 games of Scotch Doubles, shoe rental, door prizes, silent auction and Dinner, which is a Pasta Buffet, meatballs, salad and bread. This will be held at Park Lanes at 5318 N. 2nd  Street in Loves Park. Please contact Mike Rolando at 815-988-4358 or Bruce Volkert at 815-519-3242 with any questions. Return your sign up sheets (enclosed) to the school or church offices. This event benefits the St. Paul Bus Fund.

St. Paul Lutheran School has seats available in the following grades: Kindergarten, 7th & 8th grades. Grades 1-6 are at capacity. However, we may make an exception in those grades if a sibling of a new student in grades K, 7& 8 were to enroll.

Do you want to hang out with kids and serve our school as well?  Then, we have fantastic opportunities for you!  We are seeking a volunteer study hall "sitter" on Mondays and Fridays from 12:30 - 1:15 PM.  The study hall has about 12 5th and 6th grade students. We are also continually looking for people to read with students.  Carol Ulrich is the coordinator for this effort.  Please contact the school office if you are interested in either valuable position (815-965-3335 est. 215 or stpaulrockford@gmail.com).

Little Lambs is now accepting applications for spring enrollment. Please call Katie Lopez at 815-965-3335, ext. 218.
