Guided Tours Available -  Ever get lost in the Bible or forget continually to tour it? Consider making use of a guide to lead you through it in one of our many Bible Study times. We are studying the appointed readings for each Sunday's worship more in depth. If you haven't been coming on Sundays, consider joining us at 9:15am at Central site in the undercroft and 10:30am at the Northwest Site in  the fellowship hall.

Prayer for the Day is a daily devotional ministry. To hear a devotion recorded by Pastor Thies, please call the special Prayer for the Day phone number (963-7641) and then dial 3 when the call is answered.

Generosity Moment - January 12th (Baptism of Our Lord)
Matthew 3:15  But Jesus answered him, "Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” The reason God sent His Son into the world is to fulfill all righteousness for us, to do what we could not do. So here Jesus plunges Himself into our sins and soaks them up in His baptism, so that in our baptism we might be cleansed and renewed. The whole of Jesus’ life, everything He did and said, was one great offering to the Father in our stead to fulfill all righteousness for us.  His Gift informs our giving!

Welcome new members – Last week St. Paul received two new members by Adult Confirmation in our 8am service. Please give Cody Boettcher and Scott Hicks a warm St. Paul welcome!

Please note Jr. Confirmation Class resumes tonight at Northwest at 6:30pm

Please note that Monday Bible Class resumes tomorrow in the Undercroft at 10am.  With Pastor Thies teaching, we will begin our brief look at some things that Jews understand that help us understand Jesus and the Bible a little bit better.

Pastor Thies will be away from the office Tuesday through Friday of this week.  Please contact the church office or Pastor Ciprys for any pastoral needs during these few days.

MISSION U is a series of witness training opportunities provided by Lutheran Hour Ministries and hosted by churches like us.  Our next offering in the series is MU-102 “Witnessing Methods: Seven Styles of Faith Sharing” and is scheduled for Saturday, January 18th, from 9am to 2pm at the Northwest site.  A meal will be provided and childcare upon advance request.  Let us know that you are coming on your Care Card and mark your calendar so as to become a more confident witness for Christ.

2014 Offering Envelopes are now ready to be picked up. They are located in the undercroft at the Central site and the Narthex at Northwest Site. If you don’t see yours, please call the church office (815-963-5435).

You are welcome to our school’s monthly "Discover Us Breakfast".  These are open to anyone who is interested in learning about our school.  This could be prospective families, church members, local clergy, intrigued community members, alumni, really anyone!  YOU may invite people to a "Discover Us Breakfast".  The 59 minute breakfast events are primarily on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7:30 AM in the cafeteria.  Participants will receive a hot breakfast while they hear about our school primarily from students and parents.  Tours of our building will be offered to our guests.  Anyone interested is asked to RSVP with Lynn Warner (Admission Counselor) at (815) 965-3335 ext. 215 or stpaulrockford@gmail.com.  Here are the dates for the "Discover Us Breakfasts":  Thursday, January 23, February 20, March 20, April 17, and May 22

Our new development office for our school ministry has begun preparations for our 2nd appeal letter.  This mailing will be sent to our St. Paul Cheerleaders.  Do you know anyone who would like to be a St. Paul Cheerleader?  No, we don't mean someone with pom-poms!  We like to refer to our friends, supporters, and partners as our "Cheerleaders".  We want to add these cheerleaders from across the country to our mailing list.  These people will receive periodic updates on what is happening at our school.  They will be given the opportunity to hear our stories as they are shared by our students and families.  Please contribute names of people to be on our list.  It could be individuals you know who attend a church that does not have a school to support.  You may give us the names of any friends, family, or associates that you know.  They will not be obligated to give us a gift.  We would like if our "cheerleaders" would pray for our ministry and talk to others they know.  We would gratefully accept gifts that are offered!  Prayerfully consider prospective cheerleaders!  You may call with names to  815-965-3335 ext. 215, or provide to Bruce Volkert.

All are invited to our school’s St. Paulapoolza on Sunday, February 9 from noon until 3:00 PM in the school gymnasium!  You are encouraged to invite prospective families to this party event to celebrate our school ministry.  This will include our annual Book Fair, a band concert, our school kids will sing, an Open House, and more.  There will be food as well!  All are invited to contribute to our cook off which we are calling "Potluckapoolza"!  This is a pot luck with prizes!  You may enter a dish in any of the following categories to compete for "Best in Show": "Something with Bacon", "You Got Yer Sausages", "The Rest of the Meats", "Hot Dish" (of course), "Cold Dish", and "Just Desserts".  There IS a trophy!  Potluck dishes may be dropped off in the cafeteria kitchen any time that Sunday morning.  Please include your name!  This is your chance to show off your culinary skills!

"SOMETHING DIFFERENT" is on the way.  Formerly, we have had a midweek Bible study at some times.  For years we had a Saturday night contemporary service.  We propose SOMETHING DIFFERENT since we have neither of those presently.  SOMETHING DIFFERENT plans to include a Bible study with Pastor Thies, extended prayer for matters brought from those attending, perhaps some music, perhaps some skits from youth volunteers, perhaps some snacks to occasionally follow, and perhaps some other things we have not thought of yet.  The whole of it is intended to be devotional in nature and one that fosters Christian fellowship.  We hope that it can also lend itself to us drawing more use and exposure of new people to our Northwest site and outlying territory.  We plan to begin weekly on Wednesday, January 22nd with a study portion on Revelation.  Come and try SOMETHING DIFFERENT!  You might like SOMETHING DIFFERENT!
