News & Events

New Twelve Month Theme – For the year forward we have chosen the theme “Assembled as One in the Name of the Son” along with the passage, “The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.” (1 Corinthians 12:12)  We plan for it to guide us as we do work to foster Loving Relationships with each other.  Watch for more!

Door Offering - The Piecemakers (quilters) have received a request from LWR for funds to help defray the cost of shipping finished quilts overseas.  It costs LWR in the range of $2.25 per quilt for the freighter shipping charge.  A couple from the NID have been covering the cost of trucking the quilts from our area to the LWR warehouse, but from there to the overseas destination is where the biggest expense occurs. Since the quilts go by truck to the LWR warehouse the first Sunday in October, there will be a door offering and quilt display on September 14th and 15th so that we help with the expense of shipping our quilts overseas.  Thank you for helping with this

LADIES GUILD extends a welcoming invitation to ALL WOMEN to our meeting and potluck on Wednesday, September 4th at 12:00pm at the Northwest Site.  The calendar for 2013-2014 is planned and will be presented.  Interested and curious NEW MEMBERS are invited to be our guests.  We encourage you to join with us and participate in a few or all of the service and social activities planned for this year.  CURRENT MEMBERS please bring a dish to pass. Table service, beverage and dessert are provided.  Yearly dues of $20.00 will be collected.  Remember to bring an item for the "Gifts from the Heart" collection, and MITES saved over this summer.

PULL!  PULL!  PULL! Sign up with Pastor Deen for the first St. Paul Annual Tug 'O' War tournament held at the Church picnic.  Families, church boards, and random groups of 5 are encouraged to sign up for this fun competition.  Only 5 to team, as we battle to see who really pulls the most weight at St. Paul.  First Competition begins at 1:00 PM and will continue from that point on.  Must be signed up by September 5th so brackets may be prepared.  Any questions feel free to contact Pastor Deen

Our Sunday School Rally Day and the resumption of regular Sunday School for ages 3 and up is planned for September 8th.  Please plan ahead for our new beginning of children’s ministry together at 9:15am in the music room at Central site

Monday Morning Bible Class is set to begin on September 9th.  If you have never tried our morning fellowship of 30-40 studiers and friends, please consider coming at 10am and join them and Pastor Thies in prayer, study and friendly care of each other.

HELP--LADIES GUILD and LWML of NID collect for "Gifts from the Heart."  We are collecting Women's Toiletry items which will be delivered to the Crisis Center for South Suburbia. Some suggested items are--lotions, body washes, new slippers, etc.  A complete list is with the black collection tub at the narthex at each site.  LADIES GUILD sincerely thanks all who help with this LWML project.

You are still invited to tell others about enrolling their children in St. Paul School next Fall.  Seats are available in most classes.  We think we are the best deal in town - tuition is only $2,700 a year for Community Members.  That is less than $68 a week for a quality education in a small school setting.  Remember to tell them that the children learn of Jesus each and every day!  That is priceless!  Interested families can call 815-965-3335 or email Lynn Warner at stpaulrockford@gmail.com.

We are having our first St. Pauliday of the year!  It is being hosted by Sam's Drive- in (Byron) which is operated by are very own Todd and Shirlee Aldrich.  Mark your calendar for Sunday, September 29 from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM.  Take your family out for lunch after church!  A portion of the proceeds benefits our school.

You need some St. Paul Lutheran Spiritwear!  You really do!  It is an easy way to show your pride and let people know your church and/or school home.  There are numerous designs, logos, and items from which to choose.  We have shirts, hoodies, hats, jackets, sweat pants, back packs and more that can be imprinted with the design of your choice.  Please see the display in the narthex or stop by the school office.  Orders are due into the church or school office by Monday, September 30.

"8 oh 4 St. Paul".  This is our new method to remind ourselves to take time from our busy lives to bow our heads in prayers to our Father.  Last Spring we used "stop at 1:30 to pray for 130 students" for our school .  We want to continue the habit of the St. Paul Family uniting in prayer at the same time.  You are welcomed to set your alarm or phone for 8:04 (AM or PM) and join us to pray at 8 oh 4 St. Paul.  Pray that God continues to guide and bless the ministry of St. Paul Lutheran School.  Pray for our students, families, and teachers… and anything else that is on your heart.  Jesus promises to hear our prayers!

Perhaps you have a musical instrument at your house that is no longer being used.  If it is donated to our band program we can guarantee that it will once again produce beautiful music!  Donated instruments are used by our students for no charge.  For many students, being able to use a "school instrument" is what allows them to join our band.  Talk to Mr. Volkert if you have any questions.

Do you enjoy elementary (or higher) math topics to help a child with their math work?  Could you give tests or work with a student to catch up on missing assignments?  Be a St. Paul school volunteer.  Not sure you are qualified?  Training is available on an individualized basis.  This month is not too soon to get started making a difference in a child's life. Please contact the school office to join our dedication team of St. Paul school volunteers.

Little Lambs is now accepting applications for fall enrollment. Please call Jan Morton at 815-965-3335, ext. 218.
